He was born Douglas James Miller in Vancouver, to Arlene (Guerard), of Irish, Scottish, Finnish and French ancestry, and George Miller, of Austrian descent. After high school, Kidd accepted a wrestling scholarship from Simon Fraser University. There, while completing a bachelor's degree in English Literature, he was inspired to audition for the university's acting program and was accepted on the spot. It didn't take long before Kidd also began earning roles in film and television, including Top Cops (1992), The Hidden Room (1993) (alongside Daphne Zuniga), Forever Knight (1995), and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (1995), starring the legendary David Carradine.Recently, Kidd had a recurring role as an FBI Agent in the television series The Art of More (2015), which also features Dennis Quaid, Cary Elwes, Kate Bosworth and Christian Cooke, and played a police officer in the thriller Awakening the Zodiac (2017), whose cast includes Leslie Bibb, Shane West and Stephen McHattie.
