Guy Roberts is the Founder, CEO and Artistic Director of Prague Shakespeare Company, the professional English language theatre of the Czech Republic. As an actor he has received international acclaim for his performances of Shakespeare's Macbeth, Richard III, Henry V, Hamlet, Benedick, Leontes, Sir Toby Belch, Jaques, Iago, Pericles, Mercutio, Edmund, Dogbery, and Puck as well as non-Shakespearean classical roles such as Mozart in Amadeus and the Poet in An Iliad. He has produced, directed and acted in over 200 productions and his work has been experienced onstage in the United States, Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Poland, Qatar and Egypt and has been honored with multiple awards and over 100 US theatre award nominations for Best Actor, Director and Production. He is a 2015 recipient of the Tomas Garrigue Masaryk Medal of Honor from the Masaryk Democratic Movement in recognition for his work promoting arts and artistic freedom. In 2014 Guy received the inaugural Sidney Berger Award from the Shakespeare Theatre Association in recognition of his dedication to the works of William Shakespeare. In 2016, under his leadership, PSC became the first professional theatre company in the world to present the entire newly accepted Shakespearean canon (41 plays including Sir Thomas More, Cardenio and Edward II as well as all the sonnets and poetical works) in a single year as part of the historic PSC400 Season. Recently he was honored with the 2018 Houston Theatre Award for Best Actor for his performance as the Poet in the Prague Shakespeare Company / Main Street Theater Company production of An Iliad (also recipient of Best Production, Costume, Set and Lights Award nominations), co-directed by Roberts and MST Artistic Director Rebecca Greene Udden.Recent PSC credits include Measure for Measure at Prague Castle in association with LETNÍ SHAKESPEAROVSKÉ SLAVNOSTI and at the Estates Theater in association with the National Theatre of the Czech Republic. Other PSC Prague productions in association with the National Theatre of the Czech Republic at the historic Estates Theater include: Masaryk in America, The Trojan War trilogy - An Iliad, Troilus and Cressida, The Trojan Women, Julius Caesar, Amadeus, Richard III (also at Prague Castle), The Winter's Tale, Macbeth, and As You Like It as well as productions of Much Ado About Nothing, Venus in Fur, Twelfth Night at Divadlo Kolowrat in the Kolowrat Krakowski Palace and PSC tours of Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing to the Library of Alexandria, Egypt and Patrick Doyle's Music of Shakespeare with Patrick Doyle, James Shearman and Jessica Boone in Doha, Qatar and Orlando, Florida. PSC/MST productions include The Trojan War trilogy - An Iliad, Troilus and Cressida, The Trojan Women; Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night - directed by Rebecca Greene Udden, Macbeth, Henry V (Houston Press Theatre Award and BroadwayWorld Houston Theatre Award for Best Director) and Richard III. His Much Ado serves as the basis for a Czech version, which he directed and has been running for almost two years at Divadlo Bez Zabradli in Prague.Guy also travels extensively conducting Shakespeare and Leadership workshops training corporate executives and managers in the art of leadership using essential Shakespearean lessons as a model for dealing with modern-day corporate challenges. Guy served as Artistic Director of the Austin Shakespeare Festival (USA) from 2001-2007.
